Lone Workers

Lone workers, or those without close or direct supervision, are most at risk, and can face daily threats to their physical safety, particularly staff dealing directly with the public like social workers and health care professionals.

Employers are required to have effective procedures to protect lone workers.

They must assess risks and make arrangements for their lone workers’ health and safety through planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review.

Consultations with employees’ union representatives are an essential part of this.
